My Hong Kong Dining and Cooking Experience

Years ago when I lived in Tokyo, I had the opportunity to go to Hong Kong. My return ticket included an ongoing stopover to any destination serviced by Korean Airlines. It was the New Year vacation from my job, and the reservations were all made. But when the day came to go, I just couldn't talk myself into it. I had recently given birth to my son Will and still wasn't feeling up to international travel. So I stayed in Tokyo for the holiday instead. And while I can't say that I regret my choice, I know that I missed out on some wonderful food and fantastic sightseeing.

Since then, I've always wanted to go to Hong Kong, and I'm sure that with such a close affiliation between Hong Kong and San Francisco, I've unknowingly eaten Hong Kong-style cuisine on more than one occasion in San Francisco's Chinatown. But my 'Mr. Nice Guy' Hong Kong dinner will definitely be my first foray into cooking it in my own kitchen.
