This Month's Film: Memoirs of a Geisha
It’s been raining for what seems like forever. A slow, steady, relentless rain with no end in sight. The rivers are swelling their banks, entire houses are sliding into ravines, spring blossoms have been pelted from their branches, baseball season is off to a sorry start, and it’s affecting all our psyches in insidious ways.
In my own little world, as much as I love a long, rainy day for writing, reading, cooking, and napping, even I find myself chafing at my tether to get out and walk the lovely grounds where I live, and to finally install the furnishings I bought for my balcony six weeks ago.
And although it’s getting to be time for my ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’ Japanese kaiseki menu, there’s no way I’m in any mood to go schlogging groceries back and forth in the rain, so I’m going to order them from Safeway online and have them delivered. After that, a trip to my local fish market for tuna, salmon, yellowtail, crab and tobiko, and I’m good to go.
Meanwhile, I’m composing a delicately aesthetic menu of Japanese dishes to serve on Friday evening to Rene and Will…my two favorite fellas.
