This Month's Film: Woman in the Dunes
Every great Japanese meal begins with a light and fresh palate teaser called Tsukemono. The word means 'vinegared things', and for mine, I chose cucumbers and baby octopus tentacles marinated in a rice wine vinegar dressing, and sprinkled with sesame seeds. I boiled the octopus tentacles for about 40 minutes to ensure that they would be tender, and marinated them with the cucumbers in rice vinegar overnight. A delightful beginning for the Osaka-style feast to follow.
The recipe will be posted at the end of the month along with my 'Woman in the Dunes' film review.
