Celeste Heiter's Adventures in Asian Food & Film

Welcome to This Week’s Chopstick Cinema

Chopstick Cinema

It’s that time again… Each year, as a contributor to, I receive press copies of all the Asian entries in the San Jose Cinequest Film Festival. And while the blustery winter storms blow through Northern California, I get to curl up on my sofa to watch a dozen or so really cool movies and write reviews of them for the ThingsAsian website. Needless to say, it’s one of my favorite annual projects.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of seeing some real gems, among them, Firefly Dreams, Amal, Getting Home, Curiosity Kills the Cat, and The Civilization of Maxwell Bright (last week’s Chopstick Cinema feature film). I can’t wait to see what this year’s offerings have in store.

Join me this week on Chopstick Cinema for a closer look at the Asian entries in the 2009 Cinequest Film Festival, which opens on Wednesday, February 25 and runs through Sunday, March 8. For further information, visit the Cinequest website.
