On his way home from work on Monday, my son Will picked up a nice piece of sirloin, and two gorgeous sushi-grade ahi tuna steaks for our tataki dinner. I had all the condiments at the ready, so preparing the tataki was easy. I used the leftover tuna to make maguro sashimi and tekka maki. My tataki came out perfectly seared, and my sushi rolls added just enough to round out the meal. What a lovely culinary prelude on the eve of my birthday.
