Daal: The Ubiquitous Indian Dish
This Week's Film: Shakespeare Wallah
Cuisine: Indian Curry
Daal is the term for any kind of Indian bean or lentil dish, and one so common that some kind or another is served with nearly every Indian meal. My first attempt at making daal had a little of everything: kidney beans, chickpeas, and lentils, embellished with onions, tomatoes, green chili peppers, garlic, and ginger. An amazingly simple yet satisfying dish.
For this week’s recipe however, I’m going to make a classic Curried Daal made with red lentils and fragrant curry spices. My recipe will be posted at the end of the week, along with my film review.
